White Wedding

Todays card is for the monthly challenge over at Hero Arts and for the Classy and Elegant challenge at Moxie Fab World. It incorporates bookbinding but on a card.

I just got this new butterfly stamp (so elegant) and thought it would be perfect on a wedding card. The butterfly has 3 layers, with the top one being out of vellum and it's embossed along with the flourish.

Ice Cream

The challenge over at Hero Arts this month is Travel, Food and Bookbinding. I don't have any stamps related to food or travelling so I had to be a bit creative. I came up with this ice cream cone card using ribbon, stamps and some embossing. Fun and colourful!

Birthday Tulip

This is a hybrid card, a mix of digital (the tulip from this kit here ) and traditional stamping. I used Prismacolors on the tulip, added my grass buttons and some paper piercing.

As part of the Hero Arts Hostess group (the Apronettes) we decided to have an ATC swap and now that everyone has received their cards I thought I would share them with you.

Such a wonderful mix of cards and I love how something so small can make such an impact! Thanks to Tami, Sue, Jill, Vera, Arlene and Linda!

Have a great day everyone!

Sewing

I just love all the cards out there that have sewing on them. It's a fantastic element on cards and adds visual interest and great texture. I have wanted to try sewing for some time but just thinking about it brings back awful memories of my home ec teacher. Well I finally decided to give it a go and this is my first card with stitching. It's not the straightest sewing and I see some things that definitely need improving but overall I'm pleased and I think I'll attempt it again!

For some really great sewing stop by Heather's photostream here and Lucy's blog here. They have the most fabulous cards!

Faux Silk

I saw a video at Papertrey Ink a couple of months ago on making a faux silk background. You can view it here. I played around with the technique today and here's my card. It was gray and rainy most of the day, hence the black and white colours. I threw in a bit of red for some pizazz!

Missing You

This card is made using Vinnie Pearce's Bucket Full of Sunshine and Forecast digi kits over at Two Peas. The sparkley bucket with bright yellow flowers really caught my eye and I knew I had to use it on a card and I love the whimsical text background which says "sprinkle me love".

Winner and Canada Day Invitation

Thanks to everyone who stopped by and entered the giveaway. I enjoyed reading about your fun summer plans! So the winner of the blog candy is.....Nancy! Congratulations Nancy! Just email me your address and I'll mail the goodies to you!

This is a party invite I made for the monthly challenge over at Hero Arts. Canada Day is July 1st and I made the invitation based on the Canadian Flag.

I wanted the flag to feel like it was blowing in the wind and I think the Woodgrain stamp on the red parts (which is clear embossed) and the Flourish stamp on the white section adds to that feeling. I added an eyelet, some braided string and a maple leaf charm I made from Shrinky Dink.

Rosie Butterflies

Here's a card using an old kit from Vinnie Pearce called the Dream Mini Kit. The background paper is soft and faded in spots and was lightly distressed and I thought that the flowery butterfly bodies have a lovely romantic feel to them.

Final Project

Well, today is my last day as a Hero Hostess. I have had such a wonderful time and can't believe that three months have already gone by!

This is my last project as an Apronette and it was inspired by fellow Apronette Jill and her use of bold colours and butterflies. This paper globe was fun to make and can be hung from a light fixture or in a window. For instructions on making the globe visit the website here.

I would like to thank my fellow Hostesses Jill, Vera, Sue, Arlene and Linda for all their inspiration and kindness over the last three months. It has been fun!
