Happy Birthday To Me!

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Blog

The Wednesday Challenge Blog at Simon Says Stamp is celebrating 7 years with a birthday challenge. And as a side note it's my birthday today!

For my card I used MFTs Roses All Over background stamp which I white heat embossed on water colour paper and used Distress Inks to colour in. The background was pretty vivid and drowned out the sentimet so I toned it down by gold heat embossing my sentiment onto vellum. The vellum I used has been in my stash for ages and I don't use it very often because it's quite opaque compared to the usual vellum I craft with. It really has a milky quality to it.  I finished off with a few pearls and some gold thread.

Serendipity Stamps Guest Designer

Hi everyone! This month I'm a guest designer over at the Serendipity Stamps Challenge Blog for Challenge #54, Emboss.

I love embossing, it's a great way to add texture and interest to a card without a lot of bulk.

For my first card I gold heat embossed the Cala Lily and colored it with Distress Inks. I added a sentiment from the Everyday Words set (there's 4 sentiments in this set) and the lattice edging is from the Daisy Garden Die.
This die can actually give you two different die cuts just by making two little snips with your scissors. In my next card you'll see how I used the other half of the die cut.

To finish off the flower panel I added paper piercing to two of the corners and carried the piercing over to the card base as well. I added three dry embossed lines to the card base by scoring the card stock from the back using a score board.

For my second card I die cut the Daisy Garden Die twice from white card stock and cut off the lattice design so I only had the floral section. I glued them on my panel, using them as a stencil to colour the flowers.

The Happy Mother's Day Stitched sentiment was embossed on vellum and adhered between the panel and pool card base. Isn't the cross-stitch detail pretty?

Now it's your turn to get embossing and create a project for this challenge. Make sure to drop by the blog to see all the creations by design team. I'll be back on April 20th with a couple more cards to share with you.

Stop by the Serendipity Stamps Shop to check out all their amazing stamps and dies. This month the Adirondack Chair is 50% off. It's a great image for making summer scenes!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

I'm entering these cards for Simon Says Stamp Anything Goes Wednesday Challenge here.

More Papertrey Ink Challenges

I have cards for two different Papertrey Ink Challenges today. They've had a lot of great challenges to celebrate their 9th Anniversary, I just wish I had time to play in all of them!

My first card is for the Sample Square Challenge which is to create a card that features nine 1-1/2" squares, each altered in a different way, using a variety of techniques. A had a lot of fun making this card and I had so many ideas but I ran out of squares! I used Turning A New Leaf stamps and dies.

My techniques are:

  • texture kissing with an Impression Plate
  • gold embossing on alcohol ink background
  • white embossing on water coloured background
  • emboss resist
  • pearlized ink blending
  • water coloured die cut
  • stamp kissing
  • felt embellishment on water coloured and splattered background
  • gold embossing on ombre background
The next card is for the Saturday Snail Mail Challenge, which is to make a thank you card for PTI's warehouse staff. These are the hard worker bees behind the scene!

I made a floral background with Vintage Linens and added a vellum layer. The Wonderful Words Thank You was layered 3 times and adhered to some messy silver thread.

Thanks for stopping by today and Happy Valentine's Day!

PTI Anniversary

I made a card for Papertrey Ink's 9th Anniversary Celebration. For the day 1 challenge I was inspired by Amy Sheffer's color scheme.

I thought this colour combo would make a great masculine card.

I used the confetti border image from PTI's Good Times set and stamped it diagonally in the corners with the Tropical Teal and filled the design in a bit with the single dot in Mint Julep and Smokey Shadow.

For the sentiment I coloured white card stock with Smokey Shadow and Stormy Sea ink to create an ombre look and I finished off with a couple of balloons and some silver thread.

Thanks for visiting! For more info on the challenge please stop by here.

Crazy In Love

There's a new challenge starting today over at Poppystamps and this month we're Crazy In Love! We want to see your interpretation on this theme and you have all month long to play.

I decided to make my card masculine. That means no pink, glitter or lace and such.

I inked up my background with Distress Inks in Twisted Citron, Mowed Lawn, Lucky Clover and Peacock Feathers and gave it one spritz with Perfect Pearls and a few flicks of water.

I die cut the new Shimmering Heart Border 4 times and adhered it to a white panel. Then I took all the hearts that were die cut from the background and added them back in throughout the design.

The sentiment is from the Be Mine Penguin stamp set and it was white embossed on black card stock and layered onto vellum. I finished off with one red heart.

I hope to see your projects over at Poppystamps and don't forget that the winner will receive a die from the new release!
