Runway Inspired

I managed to find some time to play along with the current Runway Inspired Challenge. It's been ages since I've joined in and I had a blast with the inspiration photo.

I was inspired by the geometric pattern and that you could see through the dress.

For the background I applied Squeezed Lemonade and Abandonned Coral Distress Inks through the Heidi Swapp Fence Stencil. I cleaned off the stencil, placed it back on the design and applied Translucent Embossing Paste on top. This paste dries clear so the colours beneath are still visible.

I die cut Paper Smooches Roses Die and Leaves from black card stock and backed them with vellum so the background design would still be visible.

I finished off with a sentiment from the Altenew Label Love set and a few enamel dots.

You can see the shine and texture from the embossing paste in this photo.

I'm also entering this card in Simon Says Stamps Anything Goes Challenge.

Sparkle & Shine

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Blog
I have a wedding card today for the Simon Says Stamp Sparkle and Shine Challenge.

I used the Penny Black Alluring Stencil with Cosmic Shimmer Gilding Flakes in Aurora Lights for the background. Just sponge the Cosmic Shimmer Glue through the stencil, let it get tacky and apply the Gilding Flakes on top.  It's easy and elegant and I love the metallic shine!

The frame is from Paper Smooches Fancy Frames Icons and was cut from gold glitter paper.

The sentiment is from Clearly Besotted and was heat embossed with Ranger Silver Embossing Powder and I used silk ribbon to attach the frame to the background.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Wildflower Garden

Reading Garden Dedication

Hi everyone!  Today I'm sharing a project I created for the library in the village where I live.

I was asked to make a piece of wall art to commemorate the opening of the Children's Fantasy Reading Garden that is located right outside the library.

Dedication for Reading Garden

I pondered for quite some time about what to do.  Should I do stamping or die cutting or some combination of the two but in the end I went with die cutting so there would be depth and dimension to the project.

Reading Garden Closeup

I combined dies from quite a few companies to create a colourful wildflower garden with some fluttering butterflies thrown in for good measure.

Library Reading Garden

All the flowers were die cut from white card stock and coloured with Distress Inks and then sprayed with Perfect Pearls for a lovely shimmer.

Library Project Super Closeup

I layered some extra greenery along the bottom edge and that was die cut from vellum.

Most of the butterflies are watercoloured and some have stamping on them.

Garden Closeup

The dedication piece was computer printed onto vellum so that it would be light and airy.

It was interesting to work on such a large piece (11" x 14") compared to the usual A2 card size. There's just so much space to fill!   I definitely prefer the smaller size of the cards!

Thanks for stopping by to check out my project and I truly appreciate all the comments you leave me!

Pretty Pink Posh Watercolour Blog Hop

Paulina over at Pretty Pink Posh is hosting a Watercolour Blog Hop all weekend with some fab inspiration and prizes!

Watercolour Birthday

For my card I black heat embossed the Penny Black Demure flower image onto watercolour paper and used Distress Inks in Seedless Preserves and Picked Raspberry to paint them.  After the flowers were dry I added a layer of sparkle from my Wink of Stella Pen in clear.

Watercolour Happy Birthday

I used Distress Inks in Mermaid Lagoon and Salty Ocean to watercolour the background and added a sentiment from the More Fresh Cuts Stamp Set from WPlus9.  The sentiment was black heat embossed onto vellum and I finished off with a sprinkling of Sparkling Clear Sequins from Pretty Pink Posh.

Thank you for visiting my blog today and thanks to Paulina for organizing the hop!

Watercolouring & Masking

I have a couple of cards using watercolours and masking.  I think these will be my last two projects for the Maskerade Online Card Class, I've run out of time to create more cards.

P1270715c

The first card uses rubber cement to mask the butterflies so that some stamping and watercolour can be added to the background.

P1270738c

This card uses freezer paper as a mask.  It's such a brilliant idea and is so easy to do.

P1270760c

Using the freezer paper really helps to stretch your dies and use them in a different way.  I think this was my favorite technique from the class.

Wishing you an inky day!

Balloon Masking

Another card for the Maskerade Online Card Class.

Balloon Masking

For this card I made a reverse mask from a balloon die and stamped the balloon shape full of different sized stars.

Because of the colours and simplicity, I think this would be a great card for a guy!

Thanks so much for visiting with me today!

Masking Day 1

I'm back with another masking card for Online Card Classes, Day 1.

OCC Maskerade Day 1

I used a scallop oval die as a mask, inked the area in grey and over-stamped with Hero Arts Envelope Liner.  The flowers are from WPlus 9 Fresh Cut Florals and More Fresh Cuts.
