Spritz & Flick

I came across a new blog (new to me) in my travels around blogland called Studio L3 and they are having some fun challenges based on Tim Holtz's A Compendium of Curiosities Volume 2.  I love getting inky with Tim's techniques so I made a card using this weeks challenge which is Spritz and Flick (page 42 in the book).

You can see this technique on the background of my card.  I used Chipped Sapphire and the new Salty Ocean ink for my background, did the spritz and flick and then lightly misted over that with Perfect Pearls for a little shimmer.

The challenge ends on July 19th so there's still time to enter and you could win a $25 gift certificate from Simon Says to buy more great inky things!

Neon Monster

There's a new monthly challenge over at the Hero Arts Blog and I chose to use the theme (Summer Adventures) and colors (neon pink, yellow and orange)  for my card.
This card uses traditional stamping (the grassy hills) along with digital elements like the background, sentiment and cutie hot pink monster.  The monsters in this kit always make me smile and are fun to use on cards for the young and old, or should I say the young at heart : )

For the monster I inked up white cardstock with the new Picked Raspberry Distress Ink and sent it through the printer. For the green hills I inked up white cardstock with Mowed Lawn Distress Ink then stamped the Woodgrain ontop with a darker green and I finished off the card with a glittery kite!

Wishing you an inky day!

Less Is More

This weeks colour challenge at Less Is More is to use gold in your CAS card.
Paper: PTI, Stamps (Sunday International Lone Tree Silhouette, Penny Black Winter Sky, Cornish Heritage Farms Mona Lisa Moments), Ink (Brilliance Galaxy Gold, Versafine Onyx Black)

I stamped the simple Tree Silhouette in gold ink and added a few birds from a Penny Black stamp.  When looking for a sentiment I thought this seemed appropriate as a sympathy card.

Impression Obsession Die Challenge

This is my first submission at the Impression Obsessions blog and the requirement is to use at least one die (I used two) and all IO stamps on your project.

If you're not familiar with IO, they make the most wonderful background stamps called Cover-A-Card, you can check them out here.
I used two Cover-A-Card stamps, CC027 Flourishes for the background and CC073 Canvas which was stamped twice in two shades of green on the die cut leaves.  I love the texture the canvas stamp gives to the leaves. I decided to forego a sentiment on this card, it's going into my stash of blank cards that are ready at a moments notice.

This card also shows how to Stretch Your Stamps by using background stamps in unexpected ways. Here's a link to find out more info on the class.

Simon Says ATC

A very last minute entry into the Simon Says ATC/Tag Challenge. Sometimes I forget how fun it is to work on these little gems.

I haven't had much time to play with some of the new seasonal Distress Inks so I really wanted to use them on my ATC.  The background is done with Peacock Feathers and Salty Ocean and I sprayed it with Perfect Pearls for a soft shimmer.

I took the leaf stamp and stamped it on the background in white and then stamped on top of but slightly askew with Evergreen Bough, this adds some depth and texture to the image. I stamped a PTI border on the bottom and added a sentiment on the side.

Since I was getting all inky I figured I would make two ATCs but I mounted this second one on a card front.

The difference on this ATC is that the leaf was stamped on top of the white image in gold ink instead of green. I used a Hero Arts border stamp on the bottom and added a punched border on the side. This was attached to a white card base that I sprayed and splashed with some Perfect Pearls in Perfect Gold, so very pretty.
