Deborah's Card Chain Challenge

I participated in a card chain at Deborah's blog. I made a card for Kelly and in return I'm going to get a card from Donna. You get to send and receive cards from all over the world, so fun!

Here's the card I made for Kelly. It was based on the sketch below. I found this sketch very challenging, I just couldn't work with the four squares in the corner, it had me all flustered.

Some exciting news...

I was thrilled to be asked to be a Hero Hostess for the Hero Arts Flickr Group.  It involves participating in challenges and discussions on the site. Of course I said yes because I love Hero Arts! You can catch a little blurb about me over at the Hero Arts Blog.  And there's still time to participate in this months challenge Friendship and Valentines.

Here's a card I made for todays blog. It's a hybrid card. The flower is a digital image printed out and then coloured with Prismacolours. For the flower center I used Judikins Diamond Glaze to adhere some clear glass beads. The background is stamped and softly distressed and mounted to purple cardstock cut out with Nestabilities Labels Die 8.

Another Grass Card

Two posts in one day! I haven't done that in awhile. The Hero Arts Grass Silhouette has gotten some of my creative juices flowing again, or should I say finally!

Same stamp and very similar design to todays earlier card but they have a different feel.  For this I embossed the grass in white ep on white glossy cardstock and then coloured the paper and grass with alcohol inks. The inks stain the ep but you sand it and the white starts to show through and you get a mottled effect. The grass is still raised but not as much as when originally embossed. I stamped the sentiment on sandpaper for some texture and I added a couple of butterflies.

New Stamps

I was so excited to finally receive my order from Hero Arts and play with some of the new stamps! When I first saw this grass stamp I knew I just had to have it!  I think it'll be very versatile for a number of occasions. I made this card for my dad, his birthday is coming up in February.

I used Distress inks to colour the background and black embossed the grass ontop. I printed off a dragonfly  onto a transparency from a Hero Arts Digital Kit and put some Stickles on it and added the sentiment.

Virginia's Challenge

Virginia has posted a challenge here called "Beat the Winter Blahs". Her one criteria is to have a "wow" factor on the project.  Since today is the first day I've seen the sun in ages I wanted to make a bright card that felt like spring. I think the colours on this qualify as a "wow" factor, don't you?

The flower is from Magenta and I stamped it twice on some paper I coloured with India Ink and embossed it in white. I curled the petals on both layers to give some dimension and used two of my border punches for the sentiment piece.

Shaker Card

I made a fun and silly shaker card for my husband for Valentine's Day (I don't think he checks out my blog regularly, so no worries). I've had these lip confetti pieces for ages and thought it would work out okay for a shaker card.

Glitter, Glitter Everywhere

I'm still feeling uninspired and unmotivated with my stamping. I hope my mojo comes back soon! I did have the urge to use glitter today, which doesn't happen very often. I love the look of glitter but I don't like the mess it leaves!

Here's my simple Valentine's card. I did some background stamping and cut a border with an EK Success punch and added a strip of glitter to it. I also added three colours of red glitter (Martha Stewart) to the hearts that I cut out.

Friendship Theme

This card is for the theme of Friendship and Valentines over at Hero Arts.  They have a new month long format for challenges. Check them out here.

I stamped and then paper pieced the flower with scraps of alcohol inked vellum. I used my new oval nesties for the die shapes and added a strip of punched white paper behind the ribbon. Just finished off with the sentiment and some gems and pearls.

More Valentines

Here's a couple more Valentine's Day cards I whipped up. Super quick with some embossing and basic stamping. Well, I guess these cards don't have to be for Valentine's Day since "Valentine" doesn't appear on the cards. It could be a card for someone special in your life, just to say "I love you" .

Valentines

I'm back after my little break and am posting some Valentine's Day cards. This one is an experiment in layering, not sure if I like it. The heart image is from a company called Magenta. A Canadian company with beautiful high quality stamps. I embossed it with silver ep on paper that I had watercoloured. The red layer is a piece of metal put through the Cuttlebug and the background is a Hero Arts stamp clear embossed.


These next two cards were quick to make. I just embossed the image and coloured in a bit of it with Glaze pens and added a decorative edge with punches.

For this I cut out a couple heart shapes and clear embossed the large heart and used a herringbone stamp for the small one (all stamps Hero Arts). I stamped the XOXO onto the ribbon and added a border punched strip.
