Pattern Play Day 3

Well I'm behind on my homework for the Pattern Play Class, which can be found here. This is for day 3, working with bold patterns.
Sue McRae Pattern Play Day 3 I took one of my craziest papers to make this card and cut them into strips so that it breaks up the pattern and makes it more pleasant to look at. Not sure if it worked for this feisty design but it's a colourful and happy card nevertheless :)

Thanks for stopping by today!

Pattern Play

When I saw that Online Card Classes was offering a class on patterned paper I signed up lickety-split.  If you follow my blog you know I have a fear of using patterned paper, love the paper, can't seem to use it productively on my cards.

My day 1 project.
Sue McRae Pattern Play Day 1 I'm using 4 different patterns on this card, how crazy is that?  The papers are all from Lily Bee Designs Happily Lost paper pack.  The papers should all work together but I'm not totally convinced there isn't some clashing going on.

My second day card involved some stamping and inking with patterned paper so this was more in my comfort zone.

There is so much great info being shared in this class I encourage you to sign up here, totally worth it.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Spring Palette

When I saw this colour palette up on Ranger's website I knew I had to play along.  These colours make me think of  spring and Easter and Mother's Day.  Oh how I wish spring was just around the corner, but we still have about 18 inches of snow on the ground and that doesn't count the height of the big snow banks.

So while I wait for spring to show up I will just be getting inky with some spring colours.
Mother's Day Bouquet

It was fun to break out my Distress Inks and Stains for this project, it feels like I haven't used them in a while.  I also used my new Memory Box Die.  Love this pretty bouquet, especially with Rock Candy Stickles on the petals.  I'd forgotten how pretty the sugar-like texture of the Stickles is.

Thanks for visiting today and have a happy weekend!

Anything Goes with A Blog Named Hero

Hello bloggers, there's a new challenge starting today over at A Blog Named Hero.  It's everyones favorite...Free Style!

For my card I went a little crazy with the pink and the speech bubbles.  I just got the Hero Arts Phrase Bubbles Dies and wanted them to be the focus of the card.
ABNH Anything Goes

For the background I coloured white cardstock with Panpastels, inked up the Envelope Pattern with Versamark ink and stamped. It gives a nice soft background for all the sentiments.

Next I took some watercolour paper and used different shades of pink Lyra Aquacolor Crayons to create an ombre look and sprayed it with Perfect Pearls (a little shimmer is a good thing).  I then die cut a few windows, laid this piece ontop of the background and stamped a variety of sentiments through the openings. I finished off by adding white die cut phrase bubbles and some vellum and acetate hearts that I coloured with alcohol inks.

You have two weeks to play along with this challenge that is sponsored by the wonderful Simon Says Stamp.  Who knows, you could be the lucky winner of a $25 gift voucher and get to buy some crafty things for your stash!

For all the deets on the challenge please visit ABNH here.
