I played around with some Distress Inks to make the inky background for the butterflies. I'm really loving the colour combo of Chipped Sapphire, Faded Jeans and Seedless Preserves and thought it would look great on a black card.
I sprayed the distressed piece with Perfect Pearls for a little shimmer and stamped the Social Butterfly from Penny Black in white dye ink on top.
The card base was clear embossed with Penny Black's Paisley Outline for some subtle texture and the sentiment is from their Gratitude set.
I just got the Large Flourish Die (I consider it to be more of a leafy stem) from La-La Land and wove it around the butterfly panel.
Here's a close-up of the embossing and shimmering.
Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Envelope Challenge at A Blog Named Hero
We have a new challenge up at A Blog Named Hero, it's a fun one, and we're using CAS-ual Friday stamps with our Hero Arts stamps.
We stamp on our cards but what about those lonely envelopes? Don't they deserve a little ink too? For this challenge we want you to dress up your envelopes. Add some ink, some bling or whatever else you like to make them pretty.
My first envelope uses a chain link image from CAS-ual Fridays that I clear embossed to mimic sun rays. This definitely brightens up a plain old envelope.
I made this envelope using the Envelope Punch Board. It's a great tool for making custom envelopes in all sorts of sizes. Mine is the perfect size to hold a gift card. With some embossing and stamping it makes the gift card a little more personal.
The last envelope uses some simple stamping to create a fun pattern to jazz up the envelope.
I hope you're inspired to play along with the Envelope Challenge. We'll be giving away a gift voucher from the fabulous Simon Says Stamp to go and purchase some crafty goodies.
I can't wait to see your projects!

Creative Chemistry
I'm taking the Creative Chemistry Class offered by Tim Holtz and am way behind on all the "homework". This class is full of so many great techniques and videos, I urge you to sign up and give it a try.
My first card uses Distress Paints. I used the paints on the background and on my die cut leaves. I applied Rock Candy Crackle Paint to the leaves and love how they turned out.
Here's a close-up of the beauties.
For my next card I used Distress Paints on the background, Red Variegated Gold Leafing on the stamped medallion and Antiquities Embossing Powder on the sentiment. It was fun to pull out the Gold Leafing, I haven't used it in ages.
Here's a closer look at the shiny colours.
Thanks for stopping by today and Happy Thanksgiving Weekend to my fellow Canadians.

It's Lawn Fawn Week At A Blog Named Hero
This week at A Blog Named Hero we are collaborating with Lawn Fawn.
If you're not familiar with Lawn Fawn, they make a lot of cute stamps and very fun paper packs and embellishments. You can check them out here.
I played around with Lawn Fawn's new Petite Paper Pack called Peace Love Joy. It's part of Lawn Fawn's Christmas release but I wanted to show how these papers can be used all year long, not just for the holidays.
I covered my card front with the tiny heart pattern paper and made an envelope out of another one of the papers. The bird strip is from a page in the pad that has 12 borders just ready to cut out and add to a card. I clear embossed the Hero Arts Sentiment with my new Memento Luxe Gray Flannel ink and die cut a bunch of hearts from some glitter paper.
Thanks so much for visiting during Lawn Fawn week. Please stop by ABNH to see the fabulous projects created by the other design team members.
And there's still time to play in our current Shaped Card Challenge here.
